Mariana, a four-year-old girl, discovers the world with her teacher, in one of the last rural schools on the border between Galicia and Portugal. Children’s tales blend with the legends and stories that still inhabit the area. Mariana grows, and at seventeen years old, she faces a significant decision: to leave her village, to separate from her mother, and to go to study abroad.
